The policy is as as follows:

Kenedy ISD Dress Code for 2018-2019

TOPS: BOTTOMS: Approved Solid Color Polo/Golf Shirts (Maroon, Black, Gray, White) Kenedy Spirit Shirts—Friday Only

Approved Colors (Denim, Khaki) All Students: Jeans, Shorts, Slacks Bottoms cannot have holes

OUTERWEAR: Approved Not Approved Zip Up Anything worn to cover dress code

Kenedy Elementary additions/changes: Bottoms: All students: Jeans, shorts/capris, slacks

Hair: Haircuts or styles deemed outlandish or distracting to the learning environment and that impair vision are not allowed.

ACCESSORIES Belts: (optional)

1. Any color, or material, with a standard buckle 2. If worn, must be in loops, buckled and tucked back into loop 3. Cannot have any inappropriate designs/logos/suggestions (deemed by principal) 4. Knife sheath WILL NOT be worn on belt

Piercings:

1. Males NO EARRINGS OR FACIAL PIERCINGS 2. Females: Ears Only (no gauges or spreaders) 3. Band-Aids may not be used to cover piercings

Bags:

1. Each male student may carry one bag (non-gym bag) from class to class 2. Females may carry two bags (purse and non-gym bag) 3. Gym bags can be placed gym/locker rooms

Head Coverings:

1. Unless approved by the principal, NO head coverings allowed in the building during school hours

Glasses:

1. Prescription only 2. No Dark glasses unless prescribed by a physician (physician’s note required). 3. Contact lenses, which are patterned, or non-prescription are not allowed

Hair:

1. Males will be clean shaven (No Facial Hair) 2. Hair will be a natural color 3. Haircuts or styles deemed outlandish or distracting to the learning environment are not allowed.

SHOES (Required) and SOCKS:

1. Acceptable shoes include athletic shoes, boots, dress shoes, sandals with back, tennis shoes 2. Shoes with strings must be tied, and buckles, straps, or Velcro must be fastened at all times. 3. Socks may be of any color/design/graphics as long as they do not have any inappropriate graphics, play

on words, innuendos, illegal drugs, alcohol, or gang affiliation.

Dress Code Violations: If the principal determines that a student’s grooming or clothing violates the school’s dress code, the student will be given an opportunity to correct the problem at school (head coverings will be confiscated). If not corrected, the student may be assigned to in-school suspension for the remainder of the day, until the problem is corrected, or until a parent or designee brings an acceptable change of clothing to the school. Repeated offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
