Dec 4 - Continue Remote Learning

(DOWNLOAD STATEMENT HERE)

December 4, 2020

Dear  Parents,

After consulting with our KISD Board of Trustees and after much discussion with my KISD Executive Staff, I have decided to continue remote learning and continue to implement our TEA Approved Asynchronous Plan next week (December 7-11) for all of our campuses.  The recent infection rates and death tolls are at an all-time high and we are expected to experience a post Thanksgiving surge in Covid-19 cases.  We believe that continuing remote learning for most students significantly lowers the number of students on campus and consequently significantly lowers the risk of the spread of Covid-19 with and among students and staff.  In an abundance of caution,  we will also not be having any extracurricular activities next week.

We have distributed computers to almost all of our students in grades K-12 to facilitate remote learning.  If your child still does not have one, please call the campus so they can facilitate getting one to you.

We will continue to keep our schools open as we have done this week to accommodate students who do not have internet access or do not have anyone to care for or supervise them during the day.

We will also continue to meet the nutritional needs of our students, as we have been doing thus far.  Please let us know if you would like us to prepare meals for delivery or pick up for your children by simply notifying each campus your child(ren) attends and request meal delivery or pick up for each child that attends that campus.    Make sure you provide the child’s name and address.

We  will  continue to monitor this situation and will provide additional information as needed.  We are prepared to do whatever it takes to keep our KISD family #KenedySafe and #KenedyStrong.

Sincerely,
