Dec 10 Return To Campus - Half Days

December 10, 2020

I hope this note finds our KISD families healthy and taking precautions to remain healthy.  We have decided to bring back students next week for half days.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided in school, as usual.  We will operate on the early release schedule on all campuses and buses will run during established  Early Release route times:

KES dismissal time is 12:00 PM

KMS and KHS dismissal time is 12:05 PM

*As a reminder, our schools will remain open all day for any student who needs to stay all day or wants to stay all day.  We do ask that you communicate with your child’s teacher or school to let them know if they will be staying all day and will require transportation at the end of the day.  Please do not call the Transportation Department.

We will use this time to close up the semester and make sure all work is submitted for grading.  If your child is having difficulty with work that is assigned or has not completed his/her work, please make sure to call the school to speak to your child’s teacher.  If children do not come to school next week, they will be counted absent.

We will continue to be vigilant in doing all that we can do to keep your child safe and healthy in school and will keep you apprised of any updates as they arise.  I’d like to recognize and congratulate our custodial team and our campus staff members for doing an amazing job of disinfecting high traffic and high touch areas. Also, I’d like to recognize the amazing efforts of our Nurses!  They are going beyond the call of duty and are working around the clock to notify parents of close contacts and checking on students who are ill.  We truly do have an amazing team at KISD!

Please do continue to let us know if anyone in your household has symptoms or has tested positive for COVID-19.  As a community, we owe it to each other to share information that will help keep those around us safe and healthy.

Respectfully yours,

Dr. Diana Barrera Ugarte
