Kenedy ISD - Flu Alert

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Please be advised that Kenedy ISD has had an increase in the number of flu cases (both types).  According to the Department of Health and Human Services, millions of people get sick every year with the flu (influenza).

The flu is a contagious respiratory illness that can range from mild to severe.  The most common types are A and B and produce symptoms including fatigue, cough, sore throat, fever, body aches, and sometimes vomiting and diarrhea.

If your child has the symptoms of the flu, seek medical attention.  Your child may return to school twenty-four hours after fever subsides (without having to give fever reducing medication).

The best preventative measure is frequent and thorough hand washing!  Remind students to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing and sneezing.  Kenedy I.S.D. is increasing sanitation/disinfection efforts in all high-traffic areas.

If you have any health concerns, contact your healthcare provider or you may contact the nurse.  Please notify the school of any further cases. Thank you! Have a healthy and Blessed holiday season!
