KISD Health WatchDear Parent/Guardian,

Please be advised that Kenedy Elementary has had a few cases of Strep throat and the flu (both types).  Strep throat is an infection caused by streptococcal bacteria and it is contagious.

Common signs and symptoms of strep throat are fever, sore throat, and swollen lymph nodes.

The flu is a contagious respiratory illness that can range from mild to severe.  Symptoms include fatigue, cough, sore throat, fever, body aches, and sometimes vomiting and diarrhea.

If your child has the symptoms of strep throat or the flu, seek medical attention.  Your child may return to school twenty-four hours after fever subsides.

The best preventative measure is frequent and thorough hand washing!  Kenedy I.S.D. is increasing sanitation/disinfection efforts in all high-traffic areas.

If you have any health concerns, contact your healthcare provider or you may contact the nurse.  Please contact the school and report either of these conditions. Thank you,

Sandy DeLaGarza
