COVID-19 Exposure Update September 30, 2020Dear KHS Parents,
In keeping with Kenedy ISD’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all families that a Kenedy High School student is presumed positive (highly likely) for COVID-19 and was present on September 25 at Kenedy High School. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her. We have disinfected the areas at the school that the individual may have been at and will continue to implement protocols to ensure the safety of all staff and students at KISD.

We have engaged in contact tracing and have asked certain students who had prolonged exposure tot his individual to self quarantine for 14 days to ensure they do not have the virus, or contribute to the spread of the virus.

Please be aware that any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19
infection:
o Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;
o Sore throat;
o New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);
o Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or
o New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.

If your child does begin experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician. We require anyone in the Kenedy ISD community who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 to please notify our school by contacting their campus principal.

We will continue to monitor this situation and will provide additional information as needed. We are prepared to do whatever it takes to keep our KISD family #KenedySafe and #KenedyStrong.

Sincerely,
Dr. Barrera Ugarte
Superintendent of Schools
