Karnes County Update

March 25, 2020

Dear KISD,

KISD has made it our number one priority to keep our students and families safe during the COVID-19 crisis.  We continue to balance that priority with continuing to educate and feed students.

With today's announcement that Karnes County does have a confirmed case of COVID and the announcement made by Mayor Ron Nirenberg of San Antonio to "stay at home", we have carefully reevaluated our operations and are taking immediate action to scale down staff that reports physically to work.

We know how much our families rely on us to provide nutritional support to students during this crisis, so we will continue to provide food service and instruction, including the delivery of essential technology to those who need it.

While we may not be physically in our schools, we will remain available to our Kenedy ISD families for support during this sensitive time.  We will continue to be available by telephone, email and video conferencing to support our parents, our students and each other.

Please call our campuses if your child needs food delivered to your home or if they need technology to access online learning supports.  We will be happy to serve you and our community.

Sincerely,

Dr. Diana Barrera Ugarte

Superintendent of Schools
