Kenedy ISD Closure Until April 3

March 17, 2020

Kenedy ISD Families and Staff,

We continue to actively monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) along with our school district colleagues across the region and state, and have decided to suspend normal school operations from Monday, March 23 through Friday, April 3.  During this period, all Kenedy ISD facilities will be closed for instruction, functions, events, practices and programs.

Our amazing teachers have been working on plans for their students since Monday.  Most have already made contact with their students to check on them and to gather information that will help them in planning appropriate lessons.  We are working on logistical details for providing distance learning opportunities for students. Many of our teachers have been at school today working on plans for instructing students in this new way.   Please keep our teachers in your prayers! They are so worried about not seeing and teaching their kids in school!

Our fabulous cafeteria staff will continue to provide breakfast/lunch “grab & go” meals for pick up and will deliver to the two neighborhoods below.

All meals will be handed out through our Kenedy Secondary Cafeteria, beginning at 10:30 AM-1:00 PM.

Mobile Pick Up Locations:
Town Oaks Apartments: 1:15 PM - 1:25 PM

Bluebonnet Square 1:30 PM - 1:45 PM

Anyone under 18 years is eligible to eat for free.

This is a rapidly-developing issue and continues to change daily. We remain in close communication with health authorities, and we will communicate an update with our community as quickly as possible. I want to thank our students, parents, teachers, administrators, and central office staff members as we deal with this unprecedented way of conducting the business of teaching kids who are not physically present.   We already miss our kids!

Please take care of one another!  We are ONE Kenedy ISD, and we will work together as ONE PRIDE to continue to support our students and each other during this crisis.
